Verina Daly Care was founded in September 2011 by Verina Daly, whose 20 year career in healthcare and support included working at Milford, St Luke’s and Royal County Hospitals in Surrey, the Holy Cross Hospital in Haslemere and The Grange in Hindhead. This work involved caring from the very youngest of 18 months up to the oldest of 109 years of age. Verina also worked for Social Services home care in the Guildford district.
Drawing on her knowledge and experience from hospitals, residential homes and home care agencies, Verina felt that she could do things differently and in accordance with her own personal values.
She wanted to be responsible for a smaller, chosen client base, offering a personal and dedicated service and able to tailor the care she gave in accordance to the needs of the person she was looking after.
‘I needed to have the freedom to dedicate the appropriate amount of time to my client and have the flexibility for that to change in line with their situation,’ she explains. ‘It is about giving people the choice and control they require, wise or unwise, it is about being allowed to live your life the way you choose, no matter what your age or situation. This is what I have a passion for and this is why we do our utmost to support our clients to live their lives as safely as possible whilst promoting wellbeing and good health.’
Verina’s passionate commitment to the care sector began with her own experience of her grandmother’s challenges in later life:
‘My motivation for pursuing a career in healthcare from a young age was my grandmother who I loved very much. She became ill and overwhelmingly depressed. I passionately believe that, regardless of their condition, no one should ever feel as alone or helpless as she did.’
Over the years, Verina Daly Care has grown, employing a team of staff and becoming a limited company, but Verina’s original ethos has never changed:
‘Our main focus is, and always will be, the best standard of care and support for each and every one of our clients in their own home.’
